Summer Camp Checklist
[ ] Completed and appropriate Medical Form (turned into troop prior to departure)
[ ] Flashlight with Extra Batteries (AA or AAA size is plenty and saves on weight
[ ] Official Scout Uniform (Scout will wear shirt with swimsuit on the way to camp)
[ ] Scout Knife or pocket knife (or multitool like a leatherman etc 4” blade max folding)
[ ] Extra shorts (1 or 2 extra shorts or 1 shorts, 1 pants in addition to swim trunks) Scouts participating in Frontier Program or swimming merit badge need long pants and long sleeve shirt (see note below)
[ ] Troop Tee Shirts or Scouting-Related T-shirts (CLR or plain – CLR shirt available in trading post ~$20) No obscene, drug or alcohol related tee shirts
[ ] Swim suit (wear this down to camp unless swim test is completed prior to)
[ ] Belt (uniform belt or other if needed)
[ ] Socks for each day
[ ] Scout Handbook (in plastic bag, make sure name and Troop 776 is marked (edge of pages is good)
[ ] Cap or hat (Scout or Troop cap is preferred, but something to keep the sun off)
[ ] Underwear for each day
[ ] Something to sleep in. I do not recommend pajamas, but it is nice to change into something to sleep in that you can also walk to the latrine in case nature calls.
[ ] Bandana(s) (good for handkerchief, extra napkin, sweat rag and everything else he reaches for a paper towel for….) REQUIRED on person at all times.
[ ] Sleeping Bag or blanket (Cots provided)
[ ] Toilet articles –toothbrush, toothpaste, soap & holder, comb, etc. (A scout is clean – he will be expected to take a shower every day)
[ ] Towel(s) one is probably enough (pack towels dry very quickly)
[ ] Sleeping Pad (*optional*cots are provided, but adds comfort we have some closed foam (blue) pads)
[ ] Folding Camp Chair. This is usually not an item for weekend campouts, for summer camp, it is nice to have your own chair around the camp fire.
[ ] Spending money for the Trading Post ($20 max + tee shirt$)
[ ] Money for extra Program Fees (Leatherwork and Shotgun)
[ ] Backpack, Book bag or duffle bag (Scouts will be carrying their personal gear from parking to campsite (we have some loaner backpacks). Overflow should go into a duffle or book bag and ride in the trailer.
[ ] Be Prepared Bag – last ditch clean dry tee shirt (1), Clean dry pants i.e. sweatpants (1), clean dry underwear (1), clean dry sox (1pr), clean dry sneakers or other shoes in a plastic (ie shopping) bag with name on outside. If all else fails and the Scout’s clothes get soiled and wet, he will have this last ditch bag. Bag will remain (dry) in transport vehicle for use as needed. If Scout’s clothes are too funky to ride in transport vehicle, he will change into these nice clean smelling clothes for ride home. I keep one of these bags in my truck at all times.
[ ] Hiking Boots or sturdy shoes (it can get muddy when it rains etc)
[ ] Extra shoes (sneaks to wear around campsite etc (NO sandals or OPEN-TOED SHOES) Crocks or imitation are fine. Flip Flops or sandals are OK for shower use only.
[ ] Water Bottle/Canteen/Hydration System (1 liter or quart minimum) Old water or soda bottle is fine – must carry this at all times so some way to clip it on is good. REQUIRED on person at all times.
[ ] Poncho or rain jacket (it will rain, count on it)
[ ] Sunscreen (we will have some)
[ ] Lip Balm *optional as needed
[ ] Work Gloves for projects (frontiersman) *optional as needed – good for collecting fire wood etc

Scouts, especially those traveling from significantly lower elevations, should make sure to bring sunscreen, lip balm, and a good water hydration system (canteen, water bottle, or camel-back).
Everyone is advised to always carry water, raingear, water, sunscreen, and water.
